The South Australian Salaried Medical Officers Association (SASMOA) is the registered industry organization that represents employees («employees») in negotiations. Negotiations are being conducted with the State Government, in particular the South Australian Treasury Department («Employers») and SA Health.
Negotiations can take place six months before the expiry of the existing agreement. After the negotiation, the acceptance of a new enterprise contract is subject to the vote of all staff members to whom it applies (as part of a formal voting procedure). To replace the existing agreement, a new agreement must be supported by a majority of employed doctors who take part in the vote. The agreement must then be approved by the South Australian Employment Tribunal. SASMOA consultation process consulted with its members from June to August 2020 to develop an understanding of issues important to physicians, from trainee physicians to senior consultants. We will use this information to prepare our negotiating position and the demands we will pursue with the government. Who is covered by EA?
