Greiner accepted the benefits of the agreement: «West Liberty University welcomes the opportunity to work with De Wheeling University and Bethany College in this new consortium. The Cross-Registration Agreement is a unique opportunity for students to graduate on time. This is important to all of us and to the state of West Virginia. Only fall and spring semester courses are eligible as part of this cross-recording collaboration. What distinguishes this cooperation from a transfer credit contract is the financial assistance to the designated home school and there will be no exchange of money between the home school and the host school. WHEELING — Wheeling University, West Liberty University and Bethany College are collaborating with a formal consortium agreement that allows students from each school to take courses that are accepted in their home institution by cross-registration. The deal comes at a crucial time for higher education in the Ohio Valley, officials said. The agreement gives each full-time student the opportunity to take one course per semester at a partner school, either at Wheeling University, the University of Western Freedom, or Bethany College.
Students now have the opportunity to take all licensing courses, including online courses, and the home school will accept credits from the student reception school for their graduation. The agreement, which is considered the first of its kind in West Virginia, will allow students from one of the three institutions to take each semester from one class to one of the others to honor his graduation. Bethany President Tamara Nichols Rodenberg, Wheeling President Ginny Favede and West Liberty University President Stephen Greiner spoke about the benefits such an agreement will have for students and ultimately graduation rates in their respective institutions. Liberty University, a leading Christian non-profit university, offers NICS employees and their spouses a 15% discount on all online programs.
